Recently, the Fredericktown FFA chapter hosted their annual awards banquet. This event is to give all FFA members with the awards that they have earned throughout the year. This year there were 19 people that received the Greenhand award: Marissa Wheeler, Hannah Vaughn, Will Stelzer, Ethan Smith, Cassidy Small, Marissa Simmons, Jake Sanders, Heaven Martin, Joe McMahon, William Manning, Hailey Madrid, Aryel Ketchem, Zoe Jones, Sarah Jones, Katie Dilts, Shelby Hughes, Madison Baxter, Addison Batten, and Alaina Adkins.
The Greenhand FFA degree is given to those who completed their first year as an FFA member that have completed the necessary items which include plans for their SAE, learned the FFA history, and demonstrated the appropriate skills.
The Star Greenhand award is given to one or two first year members who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and other qualities in the chapter and are the top Greenhand members overall. Those members were Cassidy Small, Marissa Simmons, and Hannah Vaughn.
There were also some members that earned their Chapter FFA degree. Those members were: Kyrsten Andrews, Erica Banbury, Haley Barnes, Nolan Green, Alexa Jones, RAchael Labenne, Braden Morry, Alexis Parrish, Maribeth Pozderac, Haley Rook, Tanner Ruhl, Justice Stacey, Kelia Simmons, Chase Stockdale, and Donte Torres.
The Chapter FFA Degree is earned by participating in the second year of FFA, and agricultural classes, and have demonstrated the necessary requirements, and the appropriate skills. These members were also very active in their SAE records.
Some members were recognized with a Star Chapter Farmer award. This year, those members were Maribeth Pozderac, Alexa Jones, and Haley Rook. These members demonstrated outstanding qualities as an FFA member and leader in the chapter and for being the outstanding Chapter degree member.
Members that received a State degree include: Courtney Ballinger, Dalton Canter, Jacob Lotz, and Jessica Small. They will be officially awarded at the Ohio State FFA convention in May.
Ryan Matthews was recognized at the banquet for his year of service to the Ohio FFA Association as a State Vice-President At Large and because he is a candidate for State President. Milan Pozderac was also recognized as he is a candidate for a state officer position.
Awards were given to members for their leadership in the chapter. One or two people from each class, Ag I through Ag IV, are given the leadership award for setting a good example for other members by demonstrating their skills as a leader. This year’s winners were Ethan Smith, Jake Sanders, and Cassidy Small (Ag I,) Alexa Jones, and Maribeth Pozderac (Ag II), Jessica Small (Ag III), and Holly McClay, Ryan Matthews, and Caity Gaddis (Ag IV).
The FFA third and fourth year members were eligible to win more honorable awards. These awards included the following: the Nelson Beam Award was awarded to Jessica Small; the Ebersole Award was awarded to Courtney Ballinger, Dalton Canter, and Kendra Denton; and the Outstanding Senior/Dekalb Award was presented to Holly McClay, Ryan Matthews and Caity Gaddis. The Fredericktown FFA alumni scholarship award: Holly McClay.
The Honorary Chapter FFA degree was awarded to Trent and Nicky Gaddis, and also to Todd and Robin McClay. The FFA advisor is Mrs. Burden.
