Recently, members of the Fredericktown FFA chapter attending the District 7 Officer/Leadership training workshop. The event was held at
the Fairfield Union High School. The goal of this activity was to learn more about how to be a leader, especially while serving as an officer in the chapter. All newly elected officers in the district were invited to attend the workshop, as well as any members interested in learning more about a particular office or leadership in the chapter.
During the training session, each member participated in an icebreaker to meet new people and a leadership activity lead by Maggie
Hovermale, a State Vice President at Large. She was assisted by a fellow state officer, Ryan Matthews. The leadership activity was designed to help members discover what some of their beliefs and values are and how people with different values can still work together to accomplish a goal.
Participants also heard from 3 state officer candidates from District 7. Finally, members were split into groups according to the office they will be holding or are interested in. Within each group, members received advice on how to be a good leader and an explanation of what their duties will be as an officer.
