FHS Alumni Scholarship Fund Surpasses 2016 Goal

FREDDIE BIRD

The FHS alumni have affirmed the Fredericktown slogan — “It CAN be done in a small town.”  The FHS Alumni Association began its “Freddies Helping Freddies” fundraising campaign June 2015 with less than $10,000 to permanently endow its scholarships.  Thanks to the generosity of FHS alumni and friends of FHS, the Fund reached its  2016 goal of $100,000 by December 31st!  In fact, it went OVER the goal by 39% and  now stands at $139,005!  Only income generated on the corpus will be used to provide MORE and LARGER scholarships for FHS graduates beginning in spring 2017.

The “Freddies Helping Freddies” campaign has been the recipient of two memorial donations which will provide two additional named scholarships.  The announcements of these scholarships will be in the near future.  The Campaign will continue to grow as more FHS alumni and friends of FHS take the opportunity to donate to provide more and larger scholarships for future Freddies.

The FHS Alumni Association is reaching out to all alumni and friends to continue donating to the “Freddies Helping Freddies” campaign.  Donations can be made on-line on the Face Book page and web page, or by mailing checks made out to the “FHS Alumni Scholarship Fund” to the Community Foundation of Mt. Vernon/Knox County, P.O. Box 1270, Mt. Vernon, OH  43050.
