Superintendent Matt Chrispin announced The Local History Service Department at the Ohio History Connection approved Fredericktown Local Schools’ application for an Ohio Historical Marker. In addition, the district was one of ten applicants to receive a $750 grant to be applied towards the historical marker. A total of 31 applications for grants were received, so the competition was significant.
The bronze marker will be titled ‘Home of the FFA Jacket’ and highlight the district’s iconic contribution to the national organization. A dedication ceremony will be held at a date to be determined in May 2018 at Fredericktown High School.
Board President Candi Gallagher remarked, “The Fredericktown Board of Education is very excited and honored to be selected for this historical marker to commemorate the “Home of the FFA Jacket.” Our chapter is a strong and vital part of our school and community. We are very proud of Dr. Gus Lintner, who as the Fredericktown FFA advisor, created the famous blue corduroy jacket that his members of the then FFA Band, and part of the local Chapter wore to their Kansas City Convention.”
