NEWARK, Ohio – The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art & Technology is accepting registration for 2017 summer camps for youth ages 3-14. Register by phone at 740-349-9277, in person at The Works, 55 S. 1st Street, Newark, Ohio 43055, or by mail. Pre-registration is required and spots are limited. The Works 2017 Summer Camps:

*         Busy Bee Play & Learn: Ages 3-5
Designed specifically for preschoolers, campers will explore engineering, solve a science mystery, and become an artist using lines, colors, and shapes. Campers will interact with museum exhibits and artifacts while getting hands-on with art and science.

o   June 21-23 or July 26-28

o   9:30-11:30 a.m.

o   $90 non-members; $75 Works members

*         Jr. Robotics: Ages 6-7
Youth will get a hands-on introduction to the world of robotics by designing, building, and programming a LEGO(r) WeDo 2.0 robot.

o   June 26-30 or July 10-14

o   9 a.m.- Noon

o   $175 non-members; $150 Works members

*         LEGO(r) Robotics: Ages 8-11
Campers will design, build, and program a LEGO(r) EV3 robot and compete in a FIRST(r) LEGO(r) League robotics-style competition.

o   June 26-30 (8-9 yrs) Camp full but waitlist being accepted.

o   July 10-14 (10-11 yrs)

o   1-4 p.m.

o   $175 non-members; $150 Works members

*         STEAMpunk Art: Ages 8-11
This five-day art experience will unleash campers’ creativity and imagination using glass, metal, and gears for hands-on maker-inspired projects. Youth will create and problem solve while reimagining modern technology.

o   July 24 – 28

o   9 a.m.- Noon

o   $175 non-members; $150 Works members

*         STEM Innovation Institute: Ages 9-14
The perfect camp for young entrepreneurs and inventors. Campers will create new, original innovations with business principles in mind, while also learning from local entrepreneurs.

o   July 17-21

o   9-noon (9-11 yrs); $175 non-members; $150 Works members

o   1-4:30 p.m. (12-14 yrs); $200 non-members; $175 Works members

*         Forensic Science: Ages 12-14
Youth will learn about fingerprinting and DNA analysis, forensic microscopy, and impression and splatter evidence, as well as interact with experts in law enforcement, medicine, and the legal profession. At the camp conclusion, participants will conduct their own mock crime scene analysis.

o   June 19-23

o   8:30 a.m.- Noon

*         3D Design: Ages 12-14
Learn how engineers and designers use CAD (computer-aided design) to create realistic drawings, 3D models, and video games.

o   July 31 – Aug 4

o   8:30 a.m.-Noon
