Brown announces more than $40,000 in federal funds for renewable energy upgrades in Knox County

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) has awarded $40,131 to Burch Hydro for renewable energy improvements. This funding will go toward installing a solar power system to generate renewable electricity.
“Ohio, farmers, businesses, and manufacturers are leading the way in renewable energy advancement, which helps create and support jobs,” Brown said.
Brown supported a strong Rural Development title in the 2014 Farm Bill. The Rural Energy for America Program helps small businesses and farms save money and become more energy efficient. Brown will continue to advocate for Rural Development programs in the 2018 Farm Bill.
